The Lighthouse in the Fog
A poem for the readers.
Fog all around me
Hear the rumble of the sea
In front is the dim light see
Fog all around
Unable to hear over the sound.
Onward I walk in fright
Towards the dim light
Where is the sea?
The cliff I must heed?
The waters rush below
The foghorn must soon bellow
Where is the bridge ?
To where my life shall hinge
One step made in haste
And to fall down to the waste.
The light, so far away
Please let me see the way
But the sea
The cliff below me
I could fall
I will fall.
No! The lighthouse is there, soon the foghorn will cry
And I shall be safe from the tide
I just need to find the bridge.
And cross to the lighthouse
But the sea roars
The rain pours.
The light never grows
The trail never ends
The cliff is somewhere
The fall tempting
The sea, a siren song.
Only in the house I am safe
But the sea!
The sea! The siren song!
The light never grows!
